About River Monitor
Who
River Monitor is built by Luke Fairweather, an Australian solo founder. It is run by Himil Pty Ltd, trading as AI Cubed.
Headquarters: Sydney and Seaham, NSW, Australia.
The work is entirely self-funded by Luke through Himil Pty Ltd. There has been no outside funding.
Luke previously built Desk HQ, a research platform where 20+ AI agents work together on research tasks.

Volunteer
A long-time friend based in Laos, who speaks several languages, will volunteer as translator and local connector during the 2027 field trips. Their name will be added here once they have agreed to be named.

A wider perspective
Connected by the river
From the uplands to the delta, water links communities across borders. These historical views are context for our work, not photographs of our planned visits or proof of a local partnership.

Why
Millions of people live downstream of big dams on the Mekong. Dam operators often don't share how much water they hold or release. Free satellites can see reservoirs every few days. River Monitor turns those images into simple monthly numbers, with honest confidence labels, so that people downstream can see what is happening upstream.
We publish our own accuracy scores, including where we fall short: see our accuracy page.
What's next
Luke is planning a field trip to the Mekong in the coming months to meet communities, researchers and NGOs, and to check our satellite numbers against what people see on the ground.
Field trips to Mekong communities are planned for early 2027.
